Festival of Commemoration 2014

The Festival of Commemoration was held on Monday 4th August 2014 from 4-9pm held in Broad Street, Stamford. From 4-5pm family-orientated performances occurred on the main stage following a Civic Procession. It included a performance by amalgamated local school choirs and a dramatic re-enactment of the recruitment process. From 5-7pm visitors were able to look through a series of tents featuring a wide variety of fascinating displays about life in Stamford in 1914 and the outbreak of war and from 7-9pm, further performances were presented on the main stage, including Stamford Brass Band, INK Contemporary Theatre and Stamford Choral Society’s moving recital of part of Elgar’s ‘Spirit of England’. The event concluded with the Royal British Legion’s ‘Lights Out’ with the Cadets of the ACF and ATC.
